Power industry veteran Perry Fontana founded Fontana Energy Associates. Perry was formerly Vice President-Projects for Ausra, Inc., with responsibility for site acquisition, permitting, and development. At Ausra he acquired sites and completed early stage development for over 2 GW of solar thermal generation. Prior to his work at Ausra Perry was Vice President of URS Corporation, responsible for its Electric Power Business in the western United States and for international operations. At URS Perry assisted a number of the major independent power producers and international financial institutions to complete both early- and late-stage development activities. He has directed the development of natural gas, coal, biomass, geothermal, wind, solar, and gasification projects totaling over 10 GW of installed generation around the world.
Perry has extensive experience with the development and permitting of complex generation projects. He has worked in 25 countries and has served as an expert witness for several independent power producers, the U.S. Department of Energy, multilateral lending institutions, and numerous multinational companies. He has permitted numerous power projects with the California Energy Commission and notably served as a key developer for a 1280 MW gas-fired power plant in Nevada. He has also advised clients on both the sell- and buy-side of asset acquisitions, including the purchase of over 4000 MW of generation.
